Derrick Rose: Why did his defense improve so much?

Last year he was Steve Nash defensively.. He couldn't defend the pick/roll, and Rajon Rondo owned him, but this year under Coach Thibodeau I'm seeing great improvement defensively, and him shutting down Deron Williams and Chris Paul in back-to-back nights proved so, and he also just recently shut down Deron Williams.
