Can Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire play enough defense to win a championship in the next five years?

I am a knicks fan and i feel they both while amazing scorers hold the ball to long. Amare is also less aggressive when they are on the floor at the same time. However i feel offensively they will be okay if they get more depth. But while people may want to make the Miami reference for this team Dwayne Wade and Lebron are both great defensive players especially on the perimeter and there defense creates offense while the knicks tend to be really suited especially with Billups at the point as more of a half court team yet still convinced there a fast break squad. So long story short can we get it together defensively to at least get to the conference finals by the end of Amare's contract?
